Description: |
This is the second of two courses in the Foundation Physics programme. Topics in this course include geometric optics, heat, electricity: DC circuits, electrostatics, electromagnetism, applied electricity; and elementary quantum theory, sepctra, photons and electrons. Textbook(s): Miller, F., College Physics (6th edition), 1982; Stanley, R. W., Study Guide for Millers Physics (6th edition). Assessment is by coursework (50%) and final examination (50%). Students not completing at least 75% of the laboratory work will not normally be allowed to sit the final examination. Prerequisite(s): PHF02 or equivalent. |
